BACOLOD City – An 11-month-old boy died in a fire Barangay Bagtik, Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

The baby was left by his 3-year-old brother, who panicked and rushed outside when the blaze was already eating their house made of light materials around 7 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Mabinay police.

Around 6 a.m. that day, their mother left them to buy sugar and laundry soap from a store around a kilometer away.

The older boy saw their father’s disposable lighter and squeezed it, resulting in their blanket catching fire, authorities said.

Fire investigators continue to look into the incident as of this writing./PN
