Club newbies include Santa Barbara, San Carlos natives

STALLION Laguna FC boosted its roster ahead of the Philippines Football League next month with the acquisition of 14 new players, including one from each of Iloilo and Negros Occidental.

Santa Barbara, Iloilo native Jason Cordova and Gerald Layumas of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental were signed by the club after their impressive showing during the open tryouts.

Other newcomers are Farbod Mahmudi, Anton Amistoso, Hayeson Pepito, Francisco Ramos, Patrick Elhildi, Michael Simms, Van Diaz, Joel Cahilog, Kyung Joon, Carlo Polli, Gabrielle Mascazzini, and Abou Mouhamed.

“I am happy with our new players,” said Stallion Laguna head coach Ernest Nierras.

“What we are looking for during the tryouts are players with the right attitude, fitness and smarts to play professional football and we saw that with these players,” said Nierras.

Cordova and Layumas are to be joined by returning Western Visayas-based players Jan Jesus Melliza, Bervic Italia, Ruben Doctora Jr., Shaun Soberano, and Benito Rosalia.

Other holdovers from last year’s squad are Nathaniel Alquiros, Fitch Arboleda, Nicholas Ferrer, Yuki Ishihara, Terrence Linatoc, Matthew Nierras, Darwin Regala, Yannick Tuazon, Arnel Casil, and Reynald Villareal.
