MANILA – Alyssa Valdez has finally made her debut with 3BB Nakornnont in the second round of the 2017 Volleyball Thailand League on Saturday night at the King Rama 9 in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagles star scored a point in her limited stint in the first set of 3BB Nakornnont’s 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 loss to powerhouse Bangkok Glass, which features several players from the Thai national team.

The 23-year-old Valdez became the first Filipina volleyball player to be tapped to play as reinforcement in Thailand.

“I am more than willing to learn from my teammates here in Thailand naman. I know what I get from my experience here will help me when I play for the national team soon,” Valdez said.

Ako naman yung host nila. I’ll try to adjust to them,” Valdez added. “Hopefully I could meet their expectations. They are willing to help me. And I am grabbing the opportunity.”

Valdez, a three-time MVP awardee in UAAP and Shakey’s V-League, was supposed to make her debut last Sunday against the Kings Bangkok team but was delayed due to permit problems.

With the defeat, the 3BB Nakornnont team slid down to a 5-4 win-loss record. Their next match will be against the Supreme Chonburi-E.Tech on Monday next week, Feb.13.

Among Valdez’s teammates in the 3BB Nakornnont team are former Bureau of Customs Transformers imports Som Kuthaisong and Nic Jaisaen and Thailand national team members Tichaya Boonlert and Kokram Pimpichaya./PN
