ILOILO City – Six persons were arrested in a buy-bust operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay Sambag, Jaro district.

The following face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002:

* Christian Bryan Dulemen

* Raymond Savilla

* Frediery Monsale

* Jude Limuel Gasataya

* Denisa Continente

* Naomi Clarice Domingo

They were detained at the PDEA Region 6 detention facility in Fort San Pedro.

The buy-bust was carried out around 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

A PDEA personnel bought from Delumen a sachet of shabu for P500 and recovered 30 more grams of shabu valued at P270,000, said Thessa Albaño, PDEA-6 deputy director.

The five others were with Deluman at the time of the operation, said Albaño.

PDEA-6 director Wardley Getalla lamented that without the police’s help, the agency was having difficulty catching high-value drug targets.

“Inaamin namin na medyo mahirap ang pagsugpo natin ng droga without the help of the police. Pero hanapan natin ng solusyon ‘yan. We will work harder and with close coordination with communities and barangay officials,” said Getalla.

In a memorandum issued on Oct. 10, President Rodrigo Duterte directed the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Customs and all other agencies or ad hoc antidrug task forces to stop conducting anti-illegal drug operations and leave the job to PDEA.

Six hours before the Barangay Sambag buy-bust, or around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, PDEA-6 caught six persons and seized shabu worth P460,000 from a boardinghouse in Barangay Seminario, Jaro district.

It was the biggest that the agency seized so far in Region 6 since October.

A .45 pistol was also recovered./PN
