CEBU City – More than P2 million worth of marijuana plants were uprooted by the police on Wednesday in a hinterland barangay in Danao City, Cebu province.

Danao City police pulled up 9,000 marijuana plants and seized some 3,000 marijuana leaves valued at P2.1 million from a plantation in Barangay Sibacan.

No one was arrested during the operation, though, as the plantation was deserted and the vicinity was uninhabited.

Police were still investigating who owns the property and who is responsible for planting marijuana there.

Chief Inspector Gerard Pelare, acting chief of Danao City police, said a team led by Police Officer 3 Bill Restauro were patrolling in the village at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday when they spotted the marijuana plantation.

The uprooted marijuana plants were at the Danao City police station, set for incineration this weekend. (PNA/PN)
