ILOILO City – Lambunao Garments & Prints in Lambunao town, Iloilo is slowly earning its name not just in the local business sector but also in the international scene.

The shop – which is supported by the local government unit, Department of Labor and Employment and Department of Trade and Industry – produces personalized t-shirts, polo shirts, sports wears, banners and throw pillows. Some of its products were already sent to the US.

It is being operated by the Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office of Lambunao town as one of its revenue-generating units. Launched on March 16, 2009 after the completion of the DOLE-assisted skills training for women and DTI’s delivery of different machines, Lambunao Garments & Prints is composed of cutters, sewers, trimmers, iron pressers, pattern makers, printers, layout artist, technician/maintenance officers and production staff.

The shop was DOLE Western Visayas’ official entry to the Kalabalikat Kabuhayan contest where it was declared 2nd runner-up and granted P50,000.

In 2014, the DTI Shared Service Facility program turned over rotary machines, edging machines, Single high-speed sewing machines, piping machine and generator with a total project cost of P990,000.

The workers were happy since the additional facilities contributed to a more efficient workforce.

Moreover, the income of the Lambunao Garments for the past months increased gradually by 40 to 60 percent after the establishment of the project. Its reported sales in 2014 reached P1,472,429. In 2015, it yielded P1,812,534.00.

Lambunao Garments serves schools, local government units, national government agencies and civic organizations not only in the province of Iloilo but in other parts of Western Visayas.

With its products already sent to the US, the organization is also hoping to tap the international market soon./PN
