MANILA – Tanduay Alab Pilipinas finally barged into the win-column of the 2017 ASEAN Basketball League after a 78-61 rout of Formosa Dreamers at the Changhua County Stadium in Taiwan.

Import Reggie Okosa led the Philippine team with double-double 19 points and 19 rebounds on Saturday night.

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Joshua Urbiztondo contributed 12 markers apiece for Alab, which improved to a 1-3 win-loss slate.

Ivan Johnson, who came from a 30-point output in Alab’s loss to Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions on Wednesday, was not inserted by head coach Jimmy Alapag due to back spasms injury.

Alab opened the match with an 11-2 lead on hits by Parks, Urbiztondo, Robby Celiz, and Okosa. Dreamers cut the deficit to five but Alab pulled away anew 21-13 on conversions by Rico Maierhofer and John Murphy Raymundo.

Back-to-back treys by Raymundo and Dondon Hontiveros increased Alab’s lead 29-14 early in the second quarter but Dreamers countered with a 13-0 run to cut the deficit 32-39 at the half.

Alab went for the kill in the second half, with Okosa pounding inside conversions for a 57-44 advantage. The lead grew to its largest 71-53 on baskets by Chris Sumalinog and Lawrence Domingo.

Lenny Daniel top-scored with 19 points while Chi-Kuan Cheng and Jaleel Cousins had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Dreamers, which tied with Alab at 1-3./PN
