ILOILO City – A suspected subgroup leader of slain drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido and a bodyguard of Iloilo Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Domingo Oso were arrested yesterday in Barangay Palaypay, Anilao, Iloilo.

According to Anilao police chief Senior Inspector Jess Baylon, Raffy Lagamon was a high-value target in the campaign against illegal drugs.

Prevendido was believed to have stayed at Lagamon’s cock farm in Barangay Palaypay for a while. He was killed in a shootout with policemen on Sept. 1 in Barangay Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City.

Lagamon was detained at the Anilao police station together with Rommel Sumayo who identified himself as Oso’s bodyguard.

Anilao policemen raided Lagamon’s house around 4:30 a.m. Baylon said they received complaints from residents that bursts of gunfire were frequently heard there.

“Actually, Lagamon was our target. But Sumayo was also there and he failed to show us his gun license,” said Baylon.

Recovered from the house were an M16 armalite rifle, a grenade and 11 sachets of suspected shabu.

Sumayo, on the other hand, yielded a .22 revolver and a .9mm pistol.

Judge Rogelio Amador of the Regional Trial Court issued the search warrant.

Baylon said Anilao police station would be charging Lagamon with violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Sumayo will be slapped with illegal gun possession charge, too./PN
