BACOLOD City – Another man was killed in Calatrava, Negros Occidental — the third in less than a week.

A still unidentified suspect barged into a house in Sitio Ipil-Ipil, Barangay Buenavista, Calatrava on Monday and peppered Eric Cobero, 37, with bullets. Cobero was hit on the back.

Cobero, a native of Barangay San Juan, San Carlos City, and his family were renting the house, owned by Francis Carlo Debura, for only 15 days.

Chief Inspector John Joel Batusbatusan, Calatrava police chief, said they have yet to identify the suspect and determine the motive.

On March 25, two unidentified gunmen shot Dominador Jabaybay, 58, of Barangay Mina-utok, Calatrava. He was walking with two companions in Sitio Piston in the village around 8 a.m. when attacked.

Police are looking at revenge as motive based on a piece of paper left at the crime scene.

On March 23, the 35-year-old Gronillo Pabalate was shot dead by a relative during a birthday party around 1:30 p.m.

The 39-year-old suspect Jolito Labrador fled after the shooting and remains at large as of this writing. He was drunk at the time of the attack, police said./PN
