BACOLOD City – Today, the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) will give a presentation regarding water supply at the MassKara Hall of the Bacolod City Government Center, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.

An open forum will follow the presentation at 3 p.m. The public are encouraged to attend.

There were “significant developments” that can have a big impact on the water supply, Leonardia said, citing information from Baciwa chairman Lorendo Dilag.

The mayor did not disclose details. He urged the locals to go to city hall for the presentation and open forum.

“Water is a basic need. What is important is that the water we are drinking is safe,” said Leonardia.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod asked Baciwa to act on consumer complaints regarding insufficient water supply.

Baciwa should also “make a long-term plan of action … and submit [the same] to the sanggunian and make a public presentation,” the city council said in a resolution approved on Wednesday.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, author of the resolution, said among the complaints reaching his office were on very low water pressure during early mornings, the lack of water supply for days and the dark water coming out of faucets.

He considered such scenarios “very alarming.”

Among other concerns with regard to “inefficiency of government agencies,” the water supply problem was the “most trending topic almost every day on social media,” he said./PN
