BACOLOD City – IPM Construction and Development Corp. will be the garbage collector in the city until the year ends.

The Office of the Mayor issued the IPM a Notice of Award for the environmental and sanitary service on Friday.

The Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) has resolved that the IPM had the “lowest calculated bid” for the service, Acting Chairman Maphilindo Polvora said.

In a post-qualification check at the contractor’s office in Manila on Tuesday, the BAC found out that all the documents the IPM submitted during the bidding on Monday were valid, said Polvora.

The IPM is still under a two-month extended garbage collection contract with city hall.

The city government hopes everything will be finalized before the extended contract ends on Feb. 28, Polvora said.

To complete the transaction, Mayor Evelio Leonardia will seek from the Sangguniang Panlungsod an authority to sign the contract.

After the signing, the city council will have to ratify the deal.

On Monday the BAC declared the IPM the winner after posting a bid of P149,696,384.53.

The approved budget for the contract covering March 1 to Dec. 31 was P150 million.

Three contractors bought bid documents but only two — the IPM and the FDRCon Company, Inc. — participated in the actual bidding.

Dynamic Builders and Construction, Inc. expressed intent to bid but withdrew on bidding day.

They wrote the BAC, saying they might not be able to handle the environmental and sanitary service in case the project gets awarded to them due to their many other projects, Polvora then said./PN
