BACOLOD City – A businessman donated 1,000 Japanese koi fingerlings to the Bacolod City government, which were released on Saturday into the fountain area during the turnover ceremony.

James Chua, president of Foodman Industries Corp., turned over the koi fingerlings to Mayor Evelio Leonardia at the Government Center Lobby.

Aside from his family and Foodman personnel, Chua was accompanied with the members of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) 607th Squadron, where he is the squadron director.

Businessman Brian C. Y. Tan facilitated the shipment of the Japanese koi fingerlings from Manila to Bacolod on the same day of the turnover.

Leonardia, Rep. Greg Gasataya, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Councilor Renecito Novero, Environmental Management Bureau – Negros Island Region director Sophie Manuel, and Philippine Coast Guard – Bacolod commander Lt. Jimmy Oliver Vingno led the ceremonial releasing of koi fingerlings into the fountain area, and the ceremonial feeding of the fish.
Leonardia thanked Chua, Tan, Foodman and the PCGA for their donation and effort.

The mayor said a stronger partnership with the private sector is needed for Bacolod to grow. (Bacolod City PIO/PN)
