BACOLOD City – Snorkeling turned fatal for a Chinese man in Apo Island, Dauin, Negros Oriental.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Dumaguete identified him as the 54-year-old Yong Tai Hong, a tourist.

Hong was snorkeling around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday when a vessel – the MBCA MILES II – docked in the island to unload passengers from mainland Dauin.

The vessel’s propeller hit Hong on the head, the PCG said.

Hong was ferried to Malatapay, Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental and brought to the Silliman University Medical Center where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

The vessels’ captain, Juvy Baat, is now under the custody of the Dauin municipal police for investigation./PN
