MANILA – Meralco Bolts import Allen Durham waited for a year for a chance to settle the score with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings after their championship heartbreak in the PBA Governors’ Cup last year.

Now the reigning Best Import of the Conference will have a shot at that.

“It’s nice to have a rematch with Ginebra,” said Durham. “Everybody since day one, since I came in, at the beginning of the conference, we all have one goal in mind. And now we gotta finish it.”

Kings will defend its throne against Bolts in the best-of-seven 2017 Governors’ Cup finals series that starts on Friday.

“I still have memories of that loss. I still see it. I feel that we left some stuff on the court. We let get away some games that we should have won,” added Durham. “I think if we can make some corrections.”

Durham has improved in the tournament, averaging 21.67 points, 22.33 rebounds and 1.67 blocks in their semifinals series with Star Hotshots.

The 29-year-old is deeply motivated by their 2016 defeat and will try to do everything to help his teammates exact revenge on Kings, which is now boosted by the presence of 7-foot center Greg Slaughter.

“The (2016) finals loss to Ginebra definitely motivates me,” Durham said. “I definitely take care of my body in the offseason [and] I am ready to go. Hopefully, we can get the job done this time. We’re one step closer.”

Finals action begins at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City. If the series reaches Games 5 to 7, it will be held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan./PN
