BACOLOD City – A 3-year-old boy was found dead in an irrigation canal in Barangay Alianza, Bago City, Negros Occidental.

Sander Lumabit Matalubos of Barangay Malingin, Bago City was believed to have drowned, police said.

Resident Maricel Albarico, 38, found the boy’s body at around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 21 and reported to the police. Another resident, Dennis Jarde, fished the body out of the canal.

The boy was pronounced dead at the Bago City Hospital at around 8 p.m.

His sister Michelle told the police that, before he went missing, the boy was playing while she was cooking.

The family searched their house and the neighborhood but failed to find the boy until Albarico discovered the floating body./PN
