INTERNATIONAL Boxing Federation (IBF) super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas will have his dreams come true when he fights in the undercard of Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao.

The Panabo City-native Ancajas is set to face challenger Teiru Kinoshita of Japan in the undercard of Pacquiao’s World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title defense against Australian Jeff Horn on July 2 at Brisbane, Australia.

This marks Ancajas’ second title defense of the championship belt he won against Puerto Rican McJoe Arroyo in September 2016. His first title defense was last January when he beat Mexican Jose Alfredo Rodriguez in China.

“It is every Filipino boxer’s dream to fight in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao,” said Ancajas, who has recently transferred to MP Promotions. “I will not waste this rare opportunity.”

Ancajas added that he doubled his preparation for the upcoming title defense not only because of fighting in Pacquiao’s undercard but also because he is facing a tough fighter in Kinoshita.

“I will double up my preparation for this fight because I know this will be a big one since I will be facing a tough opponent in Teiru Kinoshita, who like me only lost once in his career,” Ancajas said.

Kinoshita, who is currently ranked No. 3 contender by the IBF in the super flyweight division, has only lost once in his boxing career and is currently on a six-bout winning streak.

This will also be the 31-year-old Japanese fighter’s second time to contest the title after losing to former titleholder Zolani Tete via unanimous decision in July 2014 at Kobe, Japan.

The 25-year-old Ancajas has an impressive 26-1-1 win-loss-draw ring record and has won his last 13 matches, while the older Kinoshita will parade a 25-1-1 win-loss-draw slate.

Aside from Ancajas, also reportedly being eyed to fight in the undercard of the Pacquiao-Horn battle are Filipina Gretchel Abaniel, the current WIBA and GWU minimumweight champion, and Filipina-Aussie Louisa Hawton.
