ILOILO City – Police in Leganes, Iloilo arrested a resident of Calinog town for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

The 40-year-old car driver John Carbon yielded a homemade 12-gauge shotgun and three live cartridges.

Officers caught Carbon at around 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Poblacion, Leganes after they received a report that he was keeping the gun in a black sling bag while washing a car, said Senior Inspector Dadje Delima, municipal police head.

According to Delima, Carbon was also a suspect in a grenade-throwing incident in a videoke bar last year in Barangay Cagamutan Sur, Leganes. No one was injured in that incident, Delima added.

Carbon was detained at the Leganes police station custodial facility. He faces charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

On Feb. 12 last year, the MK2 grenade that exploded in front of Florence KTV at around 12:30 a.m. damaged the windshield of William Incarnacion’s parked Honda Accord./PN
