The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has earlier announced the scheduled shutdown that will give way to maintenance and upgrade works. The shutdown will leave the country’s main gateway with two working radars.

Around 4,000 flights are expected to be delayed and cancelled once the shutdown takes effect.  Also, flights “have to be reduced” during the shutdown period and airlines are expected to finalize their schedules later this week.

The Tagaytay radar is one of the biggest navigational facilities utilized by flights flying in and out of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport./PN
