BACOLOD City – The residential per-kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) increased by almost P2.

From P9.5038 per kWh in February, consumers will have to pay P11.1669 per kWh for their March billing, Ceneco said in a press release.

The cooperative attributed the P1.6631-per-kWh increase to increases in generation (P1.2595) and systems loss (P0.1774) charges.

“The movements in foreign currency exchange, affecting fuel cost [in] coal-fired power plants, also had an impact [on] the rate increase,” Ceneco said.

Generation, transmission and system loss charges are “pass-through charges being billed to Ceneco by its power suppliers and transmission service provider,” the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines.

Meanwhile distribution charges, which are “charges pertaining to Ceneco, remain constant,” said the cooperative.

Ceneco is again reminding its member-consumers of “the importance of electricity conservation to avoid paying high electric bills.”/PN
