MANILA – CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights stayed unscathed in the 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball League (Mayors Cup -1st Conference) by beating the St. Roberts International Academy, 87-64, on Saturday at the Barangay Katilingban Gym in Molo.

Jedrick Tigress spearheaded the attack for the Silver Knights with 32 points to remain at solo first place in the standings in the high school category with a clean 5-0 win-loss record.

Sta. Clarita International High School Primes (4-1) has also extended its winning run to four by beating Mandurriao National High School (1-3) behind the 28 points of Frank Tono.

“I am just hoping that we will continue our winning ways in this tournament,” said Primes head coach Rodel Camacho. “I want my players to continue improving as the tournament goes along.”

In the other match, Iloilo National High School did not have a hard time claiming its first win in the tournament (1-2) after another non-appearance forfeit by Iloilo City National High School (0-5).

This marks the second time in the tournament that Iloilo City National High School has failed to show up after surrendering a forfeiture defeat to the Sun Yat Sen High School last Wednesday.

In the lone match in the 40 and up category, the MASA team finally tasted victory after three games by scoring an 86-66 win over Iloilo Executive. Fabian Padilla led the MASA team with 11 points.

Action resumes today with the Primes taking on Iloilo City National High School at 2 p.m., Sun Yat Sen facing St. Roberts at 3:30 p.m. and Iloilo National High School battling Jalandoni Memorial National High School at 5 p.m.

The 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament, also known as the Mayors Cup-1st Conference, is organized by the Iloilo City Government and presented by Flanax and Bonamine./PN
