MANILA – CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights hopes to make a positive impact when it begins its campaign in the Smart Breakdown Basketball National Championships today at the Jacinto Tiu Sports Center in Xavier School in Quezon City.

Silver Knights – the lone team from Visayas – will open its campaign in the Under 17 category against Bukidnon Faith Christian, Inc. of Cagayan de Oro at 4 p.m.

It will then battle Xavier School of National Capital Region and Montessori de San Ildefonso of Bulacan on Thursday, and Emilio Aguinaldo College of Cavite and Philacademy of Sakya of Davao on Friday.

“It is a very good exposure and learning experience for our team to play in Manila, and an opportunity for our young senior high school players to be discovered by scouters and recruiters,” said CenterPhil owner Mark Palabrica.

Silver Knights comprises Patrick John Gain, Mark Edison Cleofas, Jedrick Sean Tigres, Jhan Rei Congreso, Ian Carl Gasacao, Rodney Paparon, Lester Valn Paraico, Ronald Silorio II, Wilmar Silverio, Jayson Sugatan, and Narince Jawee Balano.

Gone from the squad of head coach Andee Ticzon was team captain Charles Daniel Sindol, whose family migrated to Canada a week after their successful title run in the 1st Governor’s Cup Regionals.

Defending champions for the Under 12 division was La Salle Greenhills while San Beda High School was the reigning Under 17 titlist./PN
