BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed while another was injured in a shooting incident at a cockpit in Hacienda San Isidro, Barangay Concepcion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.

Superintendent Adonis Rosales of the Talisay City police station identified the fatalities as the 62-year-old Isagani Dalisay and 29-year-old Jesril Tarrazona, both residents of the village.

Dalisay and Tarrazona were rushed to the Talisay City Health Center where they were pronounced “dead on arrival.”

The 35-year-old vendor Maricel Ferrer of Barangay Mandalagan, on the other hand, sustained wounds on the leg, police said.

Ferrer was currently confined in a hospital for treatment.

Rosales said security guard Jojo Panes and foreman Noel Padol – both residents of Barangay Tangub – had a hand in the shooting, which happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

According to investigators, Panes and Tarrazona earlier had an altercation that resulted to in a fistfight.

Padol then drew his .45-caliber firearm and fired at Tarrazona on the chest, but also hitting Dalisay and Ferrer, police said.

When Tarrazona fell on the ground, Panes also drew a gun, added the police.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells.

Land conflict was seen as the motive in the shooting, according to investigators.

Police were still locating Padol and Panes who fled after the incident. Murder and frustrated murder charges will be filed against them, police said./PN
