MANILA – Sen. Leila de Lima expressed her satisfaction with the leadership of Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.

De Lima described Pimentel, her former client as a legal counsel, as a “very fair,” “decent,” “honest,” and “good” person.

De Lima, then election lawyer, won the 2007 electoral protest filed by Pimentel against Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, who eventually stepped down from his position.

It is “understandable” why the senator falls short on leadership, according to the former secretary of the Department of Justice and chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights.

“Because bago siya na Senate President. But on the while, I think he is doing fine. And what is important is that he is very trustworthy,” de Lima stressed.

Meanwhile, de Lima said she is “not aware” of any dissatisfaction with Pimentel’s performance.
Earlier, Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito claimed that there were “misunderstanding” and “tampuhan” in the Senate leadership.

“Meron lang nag-i-isyu but not that big to say they want him out. I don’t think there is that clamor from anybody,” said Ejercito.

The senator from San Juan believes the disagreements will be resolved in the coming months.
He also said he “quite satisfied” with Pimentel.

Pulse Asia’s latest performance rating showed that Pimentel received an approval rating of 55 percent. Fifty percent of the 1,200 respondents also “trust” him as Senate leader./PN
