MANILA – Is Sen. Leila de Lima ready for the worst?

De Lima on Monday said she is getting ready for the “worst-case scenario” after the Department of Justice announced releasing the resolution on the drug charges against the senator “in a matter of days.”

Thursday last week, Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre said that de Lima’s drug trafficking cases will be filed before the Office of the Ombudsman and the Regional Trial Court.

These complaints were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, former NBI deputy directors Reynaldo Esmeralda and Ruel Lasala, and New Bilibid Prison inmate Jaybee Sebastian.

Kasi katuparan lang ‘yan ng utos ng Pangulo (Rodrigo Duterte). Ilang beses na ho ‘yan sinasabi na he wants me locked up in jail to suffer the fate of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo,” the lady senator said.

“That is his words, not mine. So mataga-tagal na ho akong pino-project ng mga ‘yan.”

De Lima said she will charge Aguirre before the Ombudsman with subornation of perjury and tampering of witnesses “in a few days, in several days.”

Unang-una dahil nga po doon sa pagpipilit nila sa witness against me. At saka ‘yung iba na kinakasangkutan niya na mga iskandalo na sunod-sunod na nga ho ‘yung ganyan na issues against him, including na rin ‘yung latest na scandal na based rin sa confidential memorandum about nga ‘yung di-umano na may kontrabando na naman na rinestore sa mga high profile inmates na iyan, like si (Herbert) Colangco na andoon sa AFP Custodial Center, in exchange for the testimonya against me,” the former Justice secretary added.

In September last year, convicted robber Colangco said during the House probe on the Bilibid drug trade that de Lima received P3 million in drug payoffs to fund her 2016 senatorial bid.

De Lima also believes that Aguirre is “unfit” for the position of justice secretary, who is expected to act and behave judiciously.

Anong klaseng mentalidad ‘yan?” she ended./PN
