ILOILO City – A decomposing body of an unidentified dead man was found at a creek in Barangay Jalaud Norte, Zarraga, Iloilo.

Passerby Benecer Castillo told the police he spotted the body around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to Inspector Roy Castro, Zarraga police chief, the man may have died three to four days prior to the body’s discovery.

The man may have been a drowning victim, said Castro, but he did not discount the possibility of murder.

“We are exploring all possible angles. We will wait for the result of the autopsy,” said Castro.

One thing was clear, said Castro: the man was not a resident of Barangay Jalaud Norte. Nobody in the village could identify him.

The other day, a resident of Barangay San Jose, San Miguel, Iloilo was found dead in the village of Cabolo-an Norte, Oton town.

The body of 48-year-old Gerry Senato was recovered a few meters away from the Gonzales family’s hose around 8 a.m. yesterday.

According to Richard Gonzales, 25, he smelled something really nasty like a dead rotten rat while gathering firewood at the back of their house.

He looked for the foul odor’s origin and discovered Senato’s body./PN
