BACOLOD City – A Sangguniang Panlungsod committee recommended the dismissal of the administrative charges filed against the Barangay 26 captain.

Antonio Arroz and complainant Juliana Tan decided to “settle their differences amicably,” said Councilor Caesar Distrito.

Distrito was leading the committee on laws, ordinances and good government that handled the complaint.

The recommendation was signed on Nov. 29. The city council received it Monday, Dec. 5. The city council has yet to approve it.

Tan filed on July 23, 2015 charges for conduct unbecoming of a government official, abuse of authority and condoning gambling against Arroz for breeding fighting cocks on a vacant lot next to her house in Barangay 26.

She claimed they had a confrontation that resulted in an exchange of unpleasant words.

But during a pretrial conference on Nov. 28, Arroz said he already removed the fighting cocks from the property, while Tan said she was no longer interested in pursuing the charges, said Distrito.

“With the proper observance of due process, and by reason of fairness and equity with the manifestation of the complainant’s disinterest in [pursuing the case],” Distrito’s committee recommended that the charges be dismissed./PN
