BACOLOD City – Councilor Caesar Distrito urged the cooperation of barangays and schools to stop cybersex in the city.

Schools can be a conduit in the campaign against the proliferation of cybersex, especially those involving children, said the chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on laws and ordinances.

Meanwhile, barangay officials can gather information about illegal activities, he said.

Distrito also raised the need for the city government’s Council for the Protection of Children, the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Bacolod City Police Office, and the Department of Social Services and Development to join forces.

“It is high time that they work together to stop and prosecute those responsible for [cybercrimes],” Distrito said.

Last week, six minors were rescued during an entrapment operation in a cybersex den in Barangay 26.

Two months earlier, four girls were also rescued while three women were arrested in cybersex operations in two barangays. (PNA)
