ILOILO City – In line with the 115th Labor Day celebration, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 will hold a job and business fair on May 1 at at Atria Park, Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district.

DOLE-6 assistant regional director Salome Siaton told Panay News that they will be adopting the concept of Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan which is a joint undertaking of the DOLE and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Siaton said the event aims to create jobs in Key Employment Generating Sectors (KEGS) and to build a strong partnership among member-agencies such as DOLE, DTI and major stakeholders in the private sector.

As of April 27, Siaton disclosed that there are around 45 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies that pledged to join the fair, offering over 14,000 job vacancies.

Based on DOLE’s data, the top local employment sectors are customer service (2,500); billing and collection representatives (300); education (300); and travel associates (200).

Meanwhile the top five vacancies for overseas employment are household service workers (710), service crew (476), delivery men (388), barista (200) and labor cleaning (133).

Amy Judicpa, information officer of DOLE-6, said that aside from the job and business fair, there will also be an employment coaching on labor relations, livelihood and pre-employment.

It will be held at the conference room of Qualimed Hospital.

“Our target here are the millennial because millennials, as you know, have attitude problems toward their respective work places,” said Judicpa.

Additionally, a one-stop shop will also be set up to assist the applicants in their documentary requirements including Pag-IBIG, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Bureau of Internal Revenue, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine Postal Corp. and Professional Regulation Commission./PN
