BACOLOD City – Councilor Caesar Distrito urged the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to strictly enforce City Ordinance No. 534, or the Anti-Vandalism Ordinance of 2011.

“I challenge Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of the BCPO, to apprehend vandals,” said Distrito, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on laws, ordinances and good government.

Several business establishments and houses in the city are being vandalized, Distrito said, citing complaints from locals.
Vandalism is the willful act of damaging or defacing a property belonging to another person or the public, the ordinance said.

This can be in the form of writing, drawing, painting, marking, or inscribing on any public or private property without the owner’s consent.

Violators shall be fined P1,000 on first offense, P2,000 on second offense and P3,000 on third offense.
Wanky met with 12 artists on Monday who were alleged violators of the ordinance.

Another meeting will be scheduled with other artists, Wanky said./PN
