ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon construct a paved road toward a jump-off point of the proposed Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge in the island province of Guimaras.

DPWH Region 6 director Wenceslao Leaño has requested Mayor Eugenio Reyes to process the environmental compliance certificate (ECC) for the roadwork in Barangay Getulio in Buenavista town.

“This means the bridge will materialize,” Reyes said, “and we are privileged to be the jump-off point.”
Aside from the ECC, approval from the Sangguniang Bayan of Buenavista is also needed, said Leaño.

Moreover, the DPWH asked the local government to consult with stakeholders regarding the cutting down of trees, Reyes said.

The interisland bridge connecting Panay, Guimaras and Negros is a priority project of the Duterte administration under its Build, Build, Build program. (PIA)
