ROXAS City – He was drunk when he drowned, a police report showed.

The 51-year-old Jofil Bartolome was found dead floating in the coastal waters of Barangay Dayhagan, Pilar, Capiz.

Bartolome’s nephew discovered him around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Bartolome was then rushed to the Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan, Iloilo where the attending physician pronounced him “dead on arrival.”

Some witnesses said they thought Bartolome was consciously dipping himself in the water. They were only alarmed when the strong current carried Bartolome’s body./PN
