ROXAS City – The No. 7 most wanted person in Dumarao, Capiz eluded arrest.

But Eric Monserat is facing more trouble after police officers seized from his house two firearms and various ammunition.

Monserat, a former kagawad (councilman) in Barangay Codingle, Dumarao, was a suspect in the murder of another kagawad in 2010.

Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Dumarao police station were supposed to serve Monserat an arrest warrant in his house in Barangay Codingle on Sunday evening.

But the fugitive ran outside when he sensed the presence of the police. His whereabouts was unknown as of this writing.

“We’ve been targeting him since last year, but he kept moving from one place to another,” said Inspector Amy Bolaqueña, Dumarao police chief.

Regional Trial Court Branch 15 Judge Juliana Azaraga issued the warrant.

Monserat was one of the three suspects in the fatal shooting of Salcedo barangay kagawad Joel Palete on Nov. 20, 2010 in Barangay Poblacion.

The other suspects, Cyril Monserat and Romulo Dela Piedra, were arrested after the incident.

Items found in Monserat’s house on Sunday included a .22 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, assorted ammunition, and two empty shells of a 12-gauge shotgun./PN
