Duterte trust, approval ratings slightly decline

MANILA – The approval and trust ratings of President Rodrigo Duterte have both decreased slightly from 86 percent in September 2016 to 83 percent in Dececember 2016, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed.
The survey with 1,200 respondents was held between Dec. 6 and Dec. 11.
Vice President Leni Robredo’s approval rating also decreased by 4 percentage points from 66 percent. Her trust rating likewise slid 7 percentage points to 58 percent.
While he also received majority approval and trust ratings, Senate President Aquilino Pimentel’s numbers, according to Pulse Asia, dropped from 66 percent to 55 percent and 55 percent to 50 percent, respectively.
The approval rating of House Speaker Pantaleon “Bebot” Alvarez, on the other hand, remained unchanged at 43 percent.
His trust rating, however, sunk by 3 percentage points from 41 percent.
Supreme Court Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno was the only top national official whose approval rating improved (from 46 percent to 47 percent). Her trust rating, meanwhile, dropped by 3 percentage points to 41 percent.
The survey listed the Senate as the most trusted government institution, earning a performance rating of 57 percent.
It was followed by the Supreme Court, with 53 percent and the House of Representatives, 51 percent./PN
