MANILA – Seventy-three percent of Filipinos believe extrajudicial killings happen in the government’s war on drugs, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed.

The rating in the survey conducted from Sept. 23 to 27 is six percentage points higher than the one in June.

Of the 1,200 respondents, 20 percent do not believe extrajudicial killings happen in the antidrug campaign, the survey showed.

Meanwhile, 76 percent of the respondent said they are “worried” what happened to Kian delos Santos and other drug suspects may happen to them, any member of their family, or their relatives.

Only 11 percent said they are “not worried,” showed the Pulse Asia survey.

The 17-year-old Santos was killed in an antidrug operation in Caloocan City on Aug. 16.

The following night, another teenager, 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz, was also shot dead by the Caloocan police.

Despite these, 88 percent of Filipinos surveyed expressed support to the war on drugs, Pulse Asia said./PN
