MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers sustained its unbeaten run in the Chooks To Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix after defeating Cocolife Asset Managers 26-24, 25-21, 25-21 at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

Ilongga Aby Maraño and American import Kennedy Bryan led the way with 10 points apiece for Cargo Movers, which moved up to solo second place in the standings (3-0) after the Saturday night match.

Asset Managers was aggressive in the first set and up 21-18 before Cargo Movers launched a run behind Mary Joy Baron and Maria Perez to tie the score at 24-all. Back-to-back hits from Maraño and Perez ended the set.

Both teams had a tight exchange early in the second before Cargo Movers pulled away 24-20 on hits by Bryan and Maraño. After a hit by Asset Managers, Cargo Movers ended the match with an off-speed hit from Perez.

Asset Managers was up early in the third but Cargo Movers quickly turned things around with hits from Maraño and Perez for a 23-21 lead. Back-to-back errors from Asset Managers handed the win to Cargo Movers.

“Like other teams, Cocolife was no easy foe,” said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus. “I think the breaks of the game in the first set that went our way gave us the confidence in the second and third sets. I can see the determination of my players.”

Taylor Milton top scored with 21 points while Tai Manu-Olevao added 14 markers for Asset Managers, which suffered its third defeat in five matches and slid to fourth place./PN
