ILOILO City – A 27-year-old farmer with head injuries was found dead in a grassy area of Barangay Bita Sur, Oton, Iloilo.

A hard object was likely used to hit Anacito Ambat on the head, according to Police Office 3 Joey Lauron of Oton.

Passersby found Ambat’s body around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Ambat was a resident of Barangay Tagbac Sur, Oton. He also had bruises on the arms and other parts of the body.

Ambat was last seen alive leaving the fiesta carnival in Barangay Bita Sur around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Prior to his carnival stopover, he helped cook food at the house of Pablo Olivares. He left the house for the carnival around 11 p.m. on Friday with friend Albert Gayos, police said.

Recovered near Ambat’s body were a pair of slippers and two packs of cigarettes.

“We believe that at least two persons attacked Ambat,” said Lauron.

His bruises may indicate that he fought back, added the police officer.

Ambat was not a drug personality in Oton, said Lauron.

“He had no derogatory record with us,” he stressed./PN
