Fashion show for Ati-Atihan tribes

KALIBO, Aklan – A fashion show that will benefit Ati-Atihan tribes is scheduled on Dec. 9 at Pastrana Park covered court in this capital town.

Dubbed as “Night of Glamour,” the fashion show will feature the works of local designers from Iloilo and Aklan.

Their designs will be worn by candidates of the Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan and Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival King.

Part of the show’s proceeds will go to tribes that have already registered to join the Ati-Atihan Sadsad contest.

According to festival organizer Kalibo Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi), the show is one way to raise funds for the tribes’ costumes.

The participating designers are Mel Grecia Quimpo, Adriano Samar, Peter Rian Casidsid, Ayein Sun, Jonard Abanco, Bon-bon Ybarra, Nico Concepcion, Ryan Lopez, Romar Tolentino, and Nino Jade Gonzales. All are from Aklan.

Kasafi chairman Albert Menez said Aklanon designers will have the chance to bag the Best Local Designer award during the show.

Daryl Amar and Ram Silva, designers from Iloilo, will also participate.

Melky Arboleda, the Philippine representative in the +3 Song Contest of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations last August, and the Aguinaldo Repiedad Sr. Integrated School Arts Power and Gymnast group will perform on the show.

There are both sixteen Mutya it Kalibo Ati-Atihan and Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival King candidates.

The female contestants are Louise Emerald Nadua, Shyna Angel Rivera, Clarynce Ada Concepcion, Angelica Marie Lim, Sheiney Jage Mationg, Janine Maglantay, Gracel Gilongos, Ina Donna Jean Pendon, Mila Mariella Simera, Riechelle Macaraeg, Elmarie Dewara, Eloisa Mitch Hormillosa, Buena Kristel Pelayo, Marijo Mariz Ureta, Annicka Pauline dela Cruz, and Stephanie Palomata.

Their male counterparts, on the other hand, are Paolo Benedict Ibuyan, John Rafael Villar, Ronald No, Jasper Sy, Marc Philip Niemeyer, Charles Ed Manuel Laserna, Alvin delos Santos, Stewart Kenneth Magbanwa, Odelon Bartolo I, Marc Sebastian Hauer, Erol Pestano, Jann Vincent Regalado, Frank Jared Rafailes, John Karl Solano, Earl JaztinBeboso, and Armando Tandez Jr. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
