ILOILO City – A promising public-private partnership between the Global Business Power (GBP) Corp. – through its subsidiaries Panay Energy Development Corp. and Panay Power Corp. – and the city government of Iloilo, the newly renovated Iloilo City Tennis Center in La Paz was inaugurated on Thursday, Feb. 16.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was led by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Vice Mayor Joe Espinosa III, Global Business Power First Vice President Nilo Madrid, and United La Paz Tennis Recreation Association (ULTRA) president Angel Gella, with Rev. Fr. Espiridion Celis officiating the blessing.

The newly refurbished tennis courts were designed in accordance with national standards, as the city government hopes to attract more tournaments in the near future, establishing Iloilo as one of the emerging sports hubs in the country.

The project also seeks to bolster the Iloilo City Youth and Sports Development Center’s drive to encourage more young Ilonggos to take on sports as a hobby or passion to steer them away from vices such as drugs.

“We at GBP, together with the local government unit of Iloilo are proud to present the rehabilitated Iloilo City Tennis City Center as our legacy to the youth,” expressed Madrid in a statement. “Together, let us be mindful of the upkeep of these tennis courts and support the development of homegrown talents.”

Iloilo City Tennis Center in La Paz is now welcome to the Ilonggo public to enjoy./PN
