ILOILO City – Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar led the launching of the Provincial Communication Officers Network (PCO Net) in the cities of Bacolod and Iloilo on Jan. 10 and 11, respectively.
The PCO Net is a network of government communicators that will ensure the efficient flow of information to the communities.
Jaime Cabag Jr., OIC-regional director of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in Western Visayas, said the PCO net would link Malacañang to communities through the information officers of local government units, regional line agencies and even private organizations.
“This aims to ensure that the policies and plans of President Rodrigo Duterte reach every Filipino people in the communities like in our region, Western Visayas,” he said.
Cabag stressed the significant role of the information officers in cascading of information to the people in communities, especially in far-flung areas.
Through the PCO Net, they expect that the public would have direct information from the Palace, particularly of the issues affecting them, Cabag said.
Prior to Bacolod City and Iloilo, PCO net was also launched in several provinces like Surigao, Agusan, General Santos, Sarangani, Pangasinan, Cordillera, Siquijor, and Dumaguete. (PNA)
