ILOILO City â Young professionals once part of the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) will gather in this city starting April 26 for the 29th SSEAYP International and General Assembly.
Tourism and Development Office head Junel Ann P. Divinagracia said they already finalized the preparations for the cityâs hosting.
âThese are young professionals who are well-placed in their respective countries. They will bring inspiration to our Ilonggo youth and professionals,â said Divinagracia.
She said the event is seen to have a positive effect on tourism.
The assembly will be held in Iloilo City from April 26 to 28.
Aside from discussions and meetings, the delegates will visit select Gawad Kalinga sites and grace or get involved in social contribution activities focusing on environment, livelihood, and maternal and child health.
They will then head to Boracay for culminating activities until April 30.
The SSEAYP is carried out by the Japanese government in partnership with the 10 Southeast Asian countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia.
The program aims to promote friendship and mutual understanding among the youth in the participating countries.
Local trade fair, cultural performances, and storytelling and other activities for children will also highlight the Iloilo City event. (PNA)
