ILOILO City has been getting a lot of attention and interest from giant investors who visited the metropolis recently.

Mayor Jerry Treñas met with Megaworld executive vice president Kevin Tan and Ayala Corporation president and chief executive officer Fernando Zobel de Ayala and discussed investments on Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

“According to Kevin Tan, among their locations, Iloilo City is good because 90 percent of BPOs (business process outsourcing) here have returned to their offices,” Treñas stressed.

On his official Facebook page, Tan shared about new business opening and offering to add more economic activities.

“Had a productive and fulfilling visit to Iloilo Business Park, our most successful township to date outside Luzon. I am very proud to have witnessed how dynamic and how things have quickly evolved in this 72-hectare township, and how Megaworld continues to play a major role in Iloilo City’s economic growth and development as the next generation city and tourism hub through our offices, hotels and lifestyle malls,” Tan stated.

He added: “It was absolutely wonderful to have explored all the exciting things we have in this township such as the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA), the new K-Town at Festive Walk Parade, Iloil’s most beautiful mall, Festive Walk Mall, and the 5-star Courtyard by Marriott. Uniqlo Philippines also opened their second outlet in Iloilo at Festive Walk and was happy to see big crowds shopping at their store,” he added.

Tan visited PH’s first Brandy Museum at ILOMOCA with Emperador brand ambassador Daniel Padilla, showcasing the city as a go-to destination.

He also keynoted the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Philippines South’s Annual Summit at Iloilo Convention Center which gathered entrepreneurs from Visayas and Mindanao.

Treñas noted that Megaworld’s two new BPO towers under construction and SM Strata Tower 2 have been contracted by locators already, even before these are completed.

He added that Ayala which runs Technohub at Atria Park District was looking at additional BPO buildings.

Global firm Legato Health Technologies President Rajat Puri also visited their two hubs at Megaworld One Fintech Place and SM Strata offices.

“I am excited to witness the continuing developments here in Iloilo. The mindset our associates have here around growing and transforming Legato is truly inspiring. To have Legato provide limitless opportunities not just for associates but for the potential talents available in this city is both exciting and refreshing,” Puri was quoted as saying on Legato PH official FB page.

The City of Love has attracted around 36,000 employees of BPO companies and counting.

“These are very exciting times happening in our city. As BPOs continue to hire, I’m so happy that employment opportunities are available for our graduates. At the same time, with the very good business climate, investments are coming in and a big help for our economic recovery,” said Treñas. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
