ILOILO City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved the ordinance establishing the Tourism Trust Fund.

The fund aims to provide additional budget to the City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) to enable it to effectively implement all its proposed projects as stated in the Tourism Development Plan 2016-2022.

Councilor Candice Tupas, author of ordinance, said 15 percent of the total amount collected by the City Treasurer’s Office from the payment of tourism license of all accredited establishments in the metropolis will serve as trust fund.

It will also be used to fund whatever tourism-related purposes and programs, subject to the usual government accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

Tupas also noted CTDO can only make use of the money upon approval of Supplemental Budget by the SP.

The City Government is collecting tourism license fee from tourism-oriented establishments by virtue of provisions under the Tourism Code of Iloilo City and the Local Revenue Code of Iloilo City. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
