ALREADY with 95 years of experience in professional services under the company’s belt, Isla Lipana & Co. / PwC Philippines has made a triumphant return to the City of Love, inaugurating its new Iloilo office on Dec. 7, while restating its commitment to the growth of the region.

“Iloilo is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. PwC, as an international organization with a very strong outlook sense sees Iloilo as one of the pivotal cities set to bring growth to the Visayas and Mindanao,” shared PwC Philippines chairman and senior partner Alex Cabrera during the Dec. 7 festivities.

“We believe inspiring Iloilo can achieve even greater things, with PwC opening its office here, we hope to be part of that journey,” he added. “We hope to contribute and be a major player in helping the city achieve greatness in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, and become one of the prime cities in the country.

Isla Lipana & Co., the Philippine member firm of the PwC global network, opened its Iloilo City office at The Galleria along Jalandoni Street in Jaro with both the city’s local government and business sector represented in attendance.

Iloilo Economic Foundation, Inc. (ILED) president Jocelyn Perez, representing the local private sector, thanked Cabrera and Isla Lipana & Co. / PwC Philippines for paying attention to the rapid growth of Iloilo, highlighting the strong public-private sector partnership in the city and province.

“Iloilo has come a long way. And what differentiates Iloilo from all the other key cities in the country are the strong ties between the local government and the business sector,” related Perez. “With PwC returning to Iloilo City, we are very excited to partner with them to foster even greater growth.”

Aside from sticking to the highest quality standards in delivering audit and assurance, tax and advisory services within and outside the Philippines, Isla Lipana & Co. / PwC Philippines boasts of an initiative to help the Visayas and Mindanao regions achieve their potential, as the firm seeks a “dispersion” of the country’s economic activities outside of Metro Manila.

Dubbing the city “Inspiring Iloilo,” PwC Philippines sees the potential of the City of Love in fueling greater expansion in the region.

“At PwC, we have this principle about ‘Great knowledge fully shared’,” Cabrera told Panay News. “And certainly we will be able to do that here in Iloilo because we have a lot of learnings from our clients in Manila. Our global network has taught us the best practices internationally, and we hope to bring to Iloilo City whatever we can do to help spur growth and development.”

“Iloilo is inspiring not only because of its significant growth but also the cooperation between the public and private sectors, its environmentally-friendly green initiatives, and the fact that it’s not only concerned with uplifting the standards of living, but also very concerned with preserving its culture and quality of life,” explains the chief executive of their decision to return to the emerging metropolis.

Together with the Makati City and Cebu City offices, the new Iloilo City office aims to deliver audit, taxation, advisory, and Japanese business services to PwC’s clients. Isla Lipana now has 28 partners and over 1,000 professional and support staff.

The blessing and inauguration ceremony culminated with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Isla Lipana & Co. / PwC Philippines, ILED, and the city government of Iloilo – represented by the executive assistant of mayor Jose Espinosa III, Dominador Co – committing to the greater development of Iloilo City through the synergy and cooperation of the public and private sector.

Among the auditing firms in the Philippines, Isla Lipana has the longest affiliation with a major global accounting firm that dates back to 1958. PwC is a network of firms in 158 countries with more than 236,000 people who are committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory and tax services./PN
