ILOILO City – Two illegal drug pushing suspects – including a suspected member of an alleged local drug group – were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Jaro and Mandurriao districts.
One of them was Alfredo Tato. A resident of Barangay Fajardo, Jaro, the 32-year-old was caught in Barangay Taft North, Mandurriao.
A police report stated that Tato yielded six sachets of suspected shabu on top of one plastic pack of the same substance he sold to an undercover officer at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mandurriao police took Tato in custody. Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6 officers helped in his arrest.
Around 30 minutes earlier, trisikad driver Genaro Mijares was caught on El 98 Street, Barangay Desamparados, Jaro.
The 52-year-old resident of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro sold to an undercover agent a sachet of suspected shabu weighing half a gram with a market value of P2,500, the PDEA said.
Mijares claimed his friend owned the substance and just asked him to sell it. “First time ko magbaligya,” he said.
But PDEA Region 6 spokesman David Garcia denied this.
Their undercover agent who had been surveilling Mijrares for around four weeks has confirmed that the suspect had been dealing drugs for a long time, Garcia told Panay News.
Citing intelligence information, the PDEA said Mijares was a member of what they have identified as the “Gregori drug group.”
Mijares was detained at the PDEA Region 6 custodial facility.
Both Tato and Mijares were facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
