SOMETHING hot just happened in Bucari, a chilly mildly popular tourist spot in the mountains of Leon somewhere in the Province of Iloilo.

There were confirmed sightings of a naked woman not only flashing her “derriere” but her entire assets to photographers or artists as they fancy themselves in public.

The entire nude photo sessions were done amidst the naked beauty of Bucari’s natural sexy curves and mounds in full view of some unsuspecting tourists. There were some tourists who saw the whole completely uncut nude scenes and said they were scandalized but those who were quiet, we can assume, enjoyed the free erotic show.

Here are excerpts from the Feb. 19 issue of Panay News:

“Photos of a nude young woman are raising the temperatures in the chilly tourist spot Bucari – the so-called ‘little Baguio’ of Iloilo province due to its freezing atmosphere.

“Taken in Bucari, the photos have gone viral on social media and the conservative mayor of Leon town where the mountain resort is located is fuming mad.

“‘We love Bucari. It’s a new tourist destination trying to make a name. We don’t need this negative publicity,” Mayor Rolito Cajilig told Panay News.’

Still from that news story:

In the photos, the woman was seen alternately standing or lying down on a rock. She had nothing on but a pair of rubber shoes, a headset and a mobile phone.

“The photos’ concept was that of a young woman listening to music to entertain herself because she did not have a date on Valentine’s Day.”

The photographers were identified as Edward Mallada and Steve Quiatchon.

Mallada clarified he did not have any intention to denigrate Bucari. He also invoked art in conceptualizing the photo shoot for the recent Valentine’s Day.

In a radio interview, Mallada also insisted that his model was not totally naked. Her private parts were taped or plastered, he said.

Mallada said he was sorry for overlooking the sentiments of Ilonggos who may have been offended by his artistic photos.

He also publicly apologized to his model and her family for the trouble the photos have generated.

So what’s the fuss all about if this all for art’s sake? Before we go further into the discussion, let’s define what art is.

According to Wikipedia: “Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), expressing the author’s imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.”

In short, it is the expression of the author’s imagination and its appreciation or not would depend on the viewer or the audience.

There’s an expression, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” Simply put, what is beautiful to me may not be necessarily beautiful to you.

But really, there seems to be much ado over nothing. So a woman was photographed naked in public; what harm was done anyway? From all indications she did it out of her own free will and she was not forced to do it.

People, we were born naked, we do most of the basic things in life naked, i.e., we wash ourselves naked, we take a shit naked, women give birth naked, we make love naked and we will die naked.

It’s not as if clothes are natural to humans; they’re not. Clothes or coverings were invented to protect our frail bodies from the elements as we were born without fur or scales. To say that the human body in its naked splendor is evil or immoral is hypocrisy invented by religion.

It is the epitome of hypocrisy if you say that a naked woman or man is not beautiful and you are also a hypocrite if you say that you don’t appreciate watching a naked woman or man depending on your sexual preference.

It seems to me that only ugly people are the ones who are ashamed of their naked bodies that were created in the image of God.

Of course, the only exception is Leila de Lima as she loves to flaunt her fat ugly body. But we can all attribute that to “frailties of a woman.”

Why, even that self-proclaimed image of virtue and purity, the “Lady of Naga” Leni Robredo, loves to be seen and photographed in public with naked feet.

Mayor Rolito Cajilig, I suggest you watch “Naked and Afraid” in Discovery Channel.

So is it art? Yes, as far as moi is concerned that nude photo session in Bucari is art./PN
