ILOILO City – On Saturday, Bernardo Bedia left home in Barangay Salihid, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo to fetch his wife and siblings in Anilao town.

Two days later, his lifeless body was found floating in an irrigation canal in Barangay Bungca, Barotac Nuevo.
Police were still trying to determine how the 58-year-old laborer died.

His body was already decomposing when discovered by some residents around 7:20 p.m. on Monday, a police report showed.

According to the police, Bedia was last seen alive when he asked permission from his brother to leave for Anilao. But when the brother called the wife, the latter said Bedia was not with them.

His family sought help from a Barotac Nuevo-based rescue group in searching for Bedia./PN
