BACOLOD City – A commotion in Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental led to the hospitalization of a man, a police report showed.
Police identified the man as the 18-year-old resident Jason Beranio.
Beranio was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City after he was shot.
According to the police, the 28-year-old Gerald Portante – also a resident of Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City – was drunk and provoked trouble in the village on Sunday.
Beranio’s brother, Robert, and Portante eventually had a fistfight, police said.
Police added that Portante went home and asked help from his relatives.
Portante and his relatives – the 53-year-old Jerry, Jomarie, 30, and Gereck, 23 – went back to retaliate.
That was when Jomarie shot Beranio, the investigators said.
