BACOLOD City – Four people shot to death a resident of Barangay Libacao, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Police were looking at land conflict as possible motive.

The 48-year-old Arman “Macoy” Matutina, was cultivating a land in Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City — several villages away from his home — as an alleged agrarian reform beneficiary.

He was working on that property when four people approached and peppered him with bullets on Monday, according to Chief Inspector Antonio Benitez, head of the Himamaylan City police station.

Matutina was taken to the Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial District Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival.” He died of gunshot wounds on the head and other parts of the body.

Benitez refused to identify the suspects pending the filing of charges in court. All he said was they used a .45 pistol./PN
