ILOILO City – Another person in possession of an unlicensed firearm was caught at a police checkpoint yesterday.

Officers in Barangay Siwalo, Maasin, Iloilo frisked Jimmy Calambro and recovered from him a loaded .38-caliber revolver.

The 28-year-old Calambro is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

A resident of Barangay Trangka, Maasin, Calambro was taken to the municipal police station after his arrest around 7:30 a.m.

The law regulates the “ownership, possession, carrying, manufacture, dealing in and importation of firearms, ammunition, or parts thereof.”
It aims to “provide legal support to law enforcement agencies in their campaign against crime, and stop the proliferation of illegal firearms or weapons and the illegal manufacture of firearms or weapons, ammunition and parts thereof.”/PN
