ILOILO City – An illegal logging charge may be filed against a driver from Barangay Kinalangay Viejo, Malinao, Aklan.

Danilo Victoriano, 38, was arrested in Barangay Bagto, Lezo town. He was detained at the Lezo police station custodial facility.

Officers flagged Victoriano, who was driving a truck loaded with coconut logs with an estimated value of P18,000 at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

When asked to show pertinent documents, Victoriano presented to the officers an expired permit to transport, police said.

Police said the suspect was facing a charge for violation of Republic Act (RA) 10593, which amended some provisions of RA 8048, or the Coconut Preservation Act of 1995./PN
